Fri, Mar 3 in #Miami: My friend Ana lives in a condo her parents bought. It's mostly seniors. So when I went down to the gym every early afternoon while Ana was still sleeping, it was me and the seniors. Which I loved. I was inspired to see them on the treadmills and lifting weights. I ran for an hour each day. A couple of glitches: One lady asked to turn down the TV, so I just shut off the Real Housewives of (Somewhere) that I had cranked up. And a man noticed some black stuff on the ground behind my treadmill. He thought it was rubber coming off the treadmill. I realized it was probably mud coming off my shoes from that hash run the night before. But before I could say anything, he had already gone to get a Spanish-speaking cleaner to come and sweep up the dirt. So I just stayed quiet. But in my silence, I overheard a lot of gossip about the condo boar elections. And I heard the broom-ordering man and his friend playing a game where broom man lists off actors from many years ago and the friend has to guess what show they were on. Thur Mar 2 in #Miami: The #HashRun was hash-tastic! I thought I was going on just a normal group run. And I had a cold, so I was worried about keeping up. But it was an unreal experience. Leaders had laid out a path through #CoralGables with flour on the road. Some paths were tricks, to keep the faster runners occupied. There were beer stops, where people stopped to drink beer (I don't drink much even when healthy and not running, so I declined). There were Boob Checks, where the girls flashed their boobs. What?! I didn't even realize that was going on at first. At some point Jennie asked if I'd seen the boobs. So then I paid more attention to what was going on. Now this is motivation for me to go running! I could become a marathoner! We stopped in an abandoned house for more beer. We stopped in a gorgeous park and a girl led some yoga and people did shots. At the end of the run, we climbed a fence and gathered by the water, and they sang dirty songs and jokingly made complaints about how the leader's planned the run. Everyone has a nickname, but I don't have one yet. I'm a run "virgin" - Which Jenny called me in the Facebook group before the run. I didn't realize it was an actual term. as a virgin, I had to stand on a cooler in the center of a circle and either tell a joke, sing a song, or show an intimate body part. I started doing a standup act about the run. But then the girls gathered together and started chanting for me to show a body part. 🍆 Jennie said they don't like people filming what goes on here. But suffice it to say I'm interested in going on more hash runs. Apparently some people even crash at other Hashers' houses and go across America doing these things. With Ana, I was back to the schedule we had during TIFF. She stays up all night and sleeps all day. (Uh oh - Was I staying with a vampire?) So I don't have pics from before noon. And by this point, my sore throat was becoming a cold. I felt like crap. But Jennie (remember her from the @surfcomberhotel pool photo from 4 years ago? 👙) invited me to join her for a run. It was an hour away by car. But I figured I better grab the chance to see her. Ana showed me how to use Lyft. I wore my running sunglasses, even though I showed up at the location after sundown. I had a nice chat with the driver, who told me about her son switching from electrical engineering to sound engineering. He likes to make music. She will support his choice, bur she's hoping he doesn't waste her money and wind up without a job. Wed Mar 1 in #Miami: I bought the cheapest seat to #TheLittleMermaid, so I was way up here. My vision is getting worse, so I couldn't see well. Ariel looked black to me. Which I thought was interesting casting. But after intermission when I was sitting on ground level, I saw that she was Asian. Which was still interesting. Also, there were 4 drunk friends in costumes sitting in front of me here, with one spinning a sparkly toy. It drove me crazy and moved a few rows up. Though I wasn't so dead-on with his name. I was about to write his name with an N, but then hesistated. I asked my dad and he said it was with an M. So I made it Efraim. I went into the restroom to take a pic of it for you (the restaurant was too dark). Back at the table I asked our waiter about the spelling and he said it's with an N. So I made the M into an N. Tues, Feb 28: #Orlando Dad asked what I wanted to do. #Celebration caught my eye on the map. I remembered it was some kind of perfect town built by Disney where you can actually live. I wanted to see that, because I'm always wondering where I would be happy living. Two friends texted that I should try @columbiarestaurant in Celebration. We drove down past all the touristy things and got to the town and missed the turn to the downtown where the restaurant is and drove the length of the town, but dad didn't get too mad cuz he was impressed with how nice the town looks. This pic is the heart of the downtown, with a lake, lined by restaurants, and in the back that's a lovely theatre. This town is so beautiful it pains me to look at it. I told my dad in the car on the way back that often I don't like seeing or doing things that I find extremely beautiful and wonderful, because it hurts my my stomach, because it makes me sad to get older and one day not have it. My dad didn't say anything to my comment. He probably just thinks I'm crazy. But anyway, maybe it's that I don't know how to fully enjoy the situation, so it frustrates me. I feel that way about beautiful medieval-style forests. About playing with my niece. And I think it's why I've broken up with the few women I've truly loved. So I'm not sure I could live in Celebration, even though it looks like a perfect place to go for a walk at night, to make friends at the baseball diamond, to join community groups, to sit at the coffee shops. Actually, it's because of those amazing things that I don't think I could stand it. I feel more comfortable in an ugly concrete city because it doesn't make me feel any joy. Tues, Feb 28: #Orlando I posted this photo at the time. But what I didn't know at the time was that I was being catfished! I was waiting at @bestwestern for a woman to come meet me. For months I'd been chatting with "Melinda Besselman", a nurse from Cincinnati. She told me she was going to be in Orlando until Thurs March 2 and I could stay in her hotel room. So the whole drive down, I was still trying to decide whether to get dropped in Orlando or #Miami. And I think I pursuaded dad to at least stop in Orlando. So we checked into the hotel and at 3:49pm Melinda said she'd come meet me at 4, or 4:30 at latest. Then at 5 she said she was still getting ready but she could meet me anywhere. Dad wanted to go out and do something. So we finally headed to the town of Celebration, which I wanted to see. I kept Melinda updated on the restaurant we were at. But she never replied again! It was only days later that it clicked - I'd been totally conned! So, new rule. I video chat with people soon after making contact online. Or, even better, I don't meet people online anymore. Unless they're celebrities. Whom I will meet on Raya, the dating app for celebrities and creative people. Which I will get on when I'm famous.
