On Wednesday, I took the TTC to @letsgototheex to see my mom, sis, niece and nephew. Turns out they got there at 10am, and I didn’t get there til about 1pm, and they were pretty much done. But I was able to see them for a bit. Then I decided to walk around on my own. (NOTE: I posted in my Instagram Story all day, so you could follow along. I post in my Story daily, so feel free to watch and ask questions. I upload Stories to YouTube and Facebook afterwards too.) I love seeing all the happy attendees. I love seeing all the staff on their microphones on the games - The girl at the Roller Bowler was talking about how a guy comes every year to her game and this time spent $50 on it while his parents had to wait. I love seeing all the people selling things from their boothes - The @vitamixca guy was funny and gave free samples of the smoothies, soup and ice cream he made. The @redfernent treadmill woman told me that she’s on the road 10 months a year, so she sold her home and stores her boxes at the warehouse - This gave me comfort, to hear that someone else sold their home to try being free to travel, because that’s what I’m trying and it’s been making me anxious. Maybe I’ll even go back to The Ex today and/or this weekend. Aug 5: My thank you speech to my childhood swim teachers... Because as you see in the previous video, I swam in the middle of a river! My brother in law suggested I jump in. I asked if he had ever jumped off the boat and he said no. My mom said I should put on a lifejacket. But I decided to be dangerous. Aug. 1: I made a video of the clothes I’m going to donate, so I can remember what I had. Does anyone else care so much about preserving memories? 👕 I sold my condo and my stuff is in storage in a guy’s basement. But he wants the stuff out. So I’ve been gradually moving stuff out. My friend Mira came with me once and watched me try on all my clothes and we decided what didn’t fit and put it in a duffel bag. Now it’s all at her house. We walked around, she was hungry, there were too many restaurant options in Byward Market. I told her about my screenplay that opens with a guy trying to decide on a restaurant and eventually the girl just leaves. So we sat down in a random pub but the menu didn’t have enough options for her. So we moved on and I knew Zak’s wouldn’t let us down. In high school, I wore a teal Zak’s T-shirt with fluorescent pink writing. Mac showed me her portfolio, her notebook where she writes her daily ideas and her Instagram @thecuriousadvertiser where she posts the insights. I love that she has a notebook that she writes her ideas in. It reminds me of myself. Her ideas remind me of a bunch of standup comedy bits. I suggested she could film herself talking about her daily thoughts for Instagram or even do standup acts. Oh, and she was telling me that she got a wrap because when she can’t finish her meal, when she gets a sandwich it falls apart in the takeout box. And she feel sick if she finishes a whole milkshake at once. I suggested she get a take-out cup for the rest of the milkshake. She didn’t realize that was possible. Yesterday’s iconic #Ottawa pic: I went for a jog along the canal. Helping to rid the beautiful area of litter, I picked up off the ground a paper liquor store (LCBO) bag that had 2 beer cans in it, and added a 3rd can I spotted. It cleans the area, and I leave the cans in my dad’s garage so he can return them for 10 cents each - My way of paying rent when I’m visiting. (I also added an energy drink can, which I just put in a blue box, cuz those don’t pay money). I jogged past 2 Senior Citizen ladies who smiled at me. I waved and called out “Hello!” They called out: “LCBO! You have an LCBO bag!” I said: “I found it! I pick up litter!” They said: “Good for you!” I wish I’d had business cards on me, so I could quickly share my info so we could keep in touch. I want to stay in touch with all the nice people I meet. July 18: As a voice actor, I need to set up my space to record without echoes. And as a digital nomad, I don’t have a home in which to set up a studio. On my first night living in a hotel, in this case, the @bestwestern in Richmond Hill - @bestwesternparkwayhotel, I figured out that I could make a fort with my mattress. It almost worked, but this room also had some tiny noise issues that would only affect a voice actor.
