Tonight at @moonbeamcoffee I met with @bumblebizz match Muna, aka @lifetastessour. She recently moved here from England and has an awesome British accent. She also speaks Somalian. And she wants you to know that her shirt is about a @spotify program to highlight music from the 6 countries in Trump’s Travel Ban, cuz music can travel! Muna is writing a TV show script. She’s also writing poetry, which she’ll read at a biweekly writer’s workshop she attends in Kensington Market. Her poem describes someone that she’s going to meet, and she asked if I could guess whom she’s talking about. I guessed that it was her true love. She said it was death. My entertainment reporting is featured in @vulture, a huge @nymag pop culture site! In a profile of @actordougjones, star of @realgdt‘s @shapeofwatermovie, they referenced my @tiff_net interview where I showed Doug a cartoon I drew of him. And the headline shows that the article was built around the question I asked Doug. It was a lot of work to draw cartoons of the celebrities. And it took a long time to upload the vids to all my social media. But as this shows, you never know which video, cartoon or post will be the one that leads to more. After watching @grease_to and getting a lychee soda at @thebasilbox, @cherann3 and I came across a @lenovo truck with an Enhanced Reality #awakenyourinnerjedi @starwars #jedichallenges game demo inside. It was run by @planb_promotions and @melissadimarco’s TV show. I interviewed Melissa at @tiff_net and the producer was outside this truck and thought she recognized me, but wasn’t sure because I was wearing my Ernie toque. I revealed my head to show it was me and we had a nice chat in the freezing cold while Cheryl lined up. Then I filmed Cheryl lightsaber-battling a villain. At least, that’s what I assume she was doing. Also, the truck was having a contest to give away tickets for the Star Wars premier tomorrow night. Whether I win or not, I’ll have to see the movie soon. Who’s coming with me? @cherann3 won tickets to @grease_to from the show’s @facebook page and invited me to come. I was reluctant, because I’m not really into musicals. But I try to push myself beyond my comfort zone. And I’m glad I did! The show provided some much needed Summer Lovin’ during a cold spell in Toronto and a dry spell in my love life. @dswallach’s understudy @plummerdrew was a great Danny who made me wish I had hair to grease. @janelparrish was a singing angel who, I learned afterward, played a scheming devil on @prettylittleliars. As you of course saw in my Instagram Story last night, I stopped by @secondcupqueenst to finally meet the owner I’d been messaging with since my last visit. Ready to feel lazy? Nadia (pictured centre) was a nutritionist but left that to buy two @secondcupcanada coffee shops, and, when not working at them, is in university taking bio chem, so she can start her own pharmaceutical company. Oh, and she’s 22 years old. Meanwhile, I’m (cough) slightly older (cough) and I played Scrabble on Facebook today. I think from now on, before I do anything, I should ask myself, “What would Nadia do?” Oh, bonus fact: Her parents and brother work for her. I just had a fun adventure where I tagged @secondcupqueenst in my Instagram Story and they replied back right away and the cashier @thairjkawaii told me it’s her boss @nutrinadiaa sending the messages. A thrilling mystery! I was walking back from the Nathan Phillips Square Christmas tree lighting with my neighbor Kathleen and she wanted to warm up with a hot chocolate in @sbuxqueenjohn but I suggested @secondcupcanada because I like to support a Canadian company. (Sorry, @starbuckscanada! I still appreciate the free birthday smoothie last week!) Who knew that patriotism would lead to making great new friends? The Christmas spirit is filling my life with joy! And I’m Jewish! (Extra note: On the walk back, Kathleen noted that I see the world differently and she loves watching my observations.
