Last night in bed, I registered for Music Studio Hours at the @apple store, so I could come ask if I can use 2 XLR mics at once in GarageBand, for recording my podcast. I recorded my first podcast today! My guest was Brent Jensen, host of the podcast No Sleep Til Sudbury - @nosleeptilsudbury19. Listen to his show at nosleeptilsudury.org - He interviews big rock stars - like members of @defleppard and @twistedsisterofficial - about their favorite songs. He came to my condo and we chatted in my home studio (formerly my guest bedroom). So basically I’m now the Canadian Mark Maron, who interviews big stars - from @amyschumer to @barackobama - in his garage. I didn’t broadcast the recording on Facebook Live, because I wasn’t able to figure out how to use a second microphone on my computer and so the whole thing was more of a panicky learning process and I didn’t have time to add another element to the mix. How do I add excitement to my life? By switching up my canned mushrooms! 🍄 In this clip from yesterday’s Instagram Story, I was at @nofrills_ca, buying ingredients to make fitness expert @clarkbartram’s recipe for Testosterone-Boosting Chili for Older Men. Normally I buy the Sliced Mushrooms. But this time I went with Pieces & Stems, because it will add unpredictability to each spoonful. Yes, this is how sad my life is. Last weekend I was looking through tweets about @bufferfestival and followed @marydoodles, who makes @youtube videos of her drawing. Right up my alley, right? Cuz I draw celebrities and show them the cartoons when I interview them. I was delighted to see that Mary followed me back! She has over 18,000 followers and only follows 750 people. I’m number 751! So it was extra cool to watch her speak in person at Creator Day at @fairmontroyalyork. She talked about the importance of listening to your viewers. People kept asking her to do cartoons based on a random squiggle, and she thought that was just amateurish, but then she tried it and it became for most popular type of video and she loves it now and she’s even doing an art gallery show about it. On Saturday, after I got off the @gotransitofficial bus to Brampton to visit my sister and her kids, I was hungry because I’m low on groceries and all I ate that day was two eggs. I figured I should get some food so I didn’t show up starving. I ordered a jerk wrap. But then the guy came out and said they are out of the jerk and would I accept chicken roti instead. I said that was fine. I don’t even know what jerk was anyways. And I checked the menu and the jerk is $7.99 and the chicken roti is $9.99 and I already paid. So basically I got two dollars of free food. But when I got to my sister’s she asked why I bought food because we were about to have dinner and I wound up running around with the kids in the backyard without eating my wrap and then I just ate my wrap while we all ate Greek delivery. So I guess I didn’t really win after all. Anyway, Spicy Island Jerk doesn’t even show up as a location on Instagram. It must be nice to be so off the grid. That’s the laidback Jamaican mentality. On Thursday, I went to a meeting about Solar Share solar bonds. To be honest, I don’t have any money right now to invest. But there was going to be free pizza and wine. But I didn’t want to be greedy. So I just took one slice if pizza and a little sip of wine. And then I had to pee. And then I got lost in the underground tunnels in the basement looking for the washroom. But I love old buildings. Brick walls and secret little rooms are so cool. I’m so glad the government has decided to change the tax rules so that 401 Richmond St. W. can remain a hub for small creative businesses and art galleries. So I did enjoy wandering around. And when I got back to the meeting, all the pizza was gone. Anyway, what was I talking about? Oh right. Investing in solar bonds is a way to get a good financial return while helping the environment.
