Thanks so much to those who subscribed to http://youtube.com/joshrachlis so I could attend the #Canada150 event at #YoutubeSpaceTO. I went from 846 subscribers yesterday to 868 today! That's still not the 1000 I needed to be able to attend. But I showed up anyways just in case. I didn't quite have a James Bond plan, but as often happens in James Bond or Mission: Impossible, fate was on my side - Their Internet was down so I was able to get in by just signing in on a piece of paper. It often pays just to show up somewhere - A lesson in life. I had a great time and met a lot of amazing, creative, popular YouTubers. As promised, I will post the vlog of the evening shortly. .@shanique_f and @sabhaque came back to me because they heard me say I wanted to take a photo with them for Instagram. I showed them that I already had taken my secret one with them in background. They loved it. And they posed with me for this one. They're so nice! Later Shan will email me a pic she took of me with her fancy camera. Shan said my pic looks great and asked if I have an iPhone 7. Ran another hour while watching a movie on my laptop with my wireless headphones! So this is Day 2 of My Best Idea Ever. Ran 4 miles at 1% incline. Burned 466 calories. So, not very fast. But still - An hour of activity should get my body into fat-burning mode. This time I watched the first hour of Mission: Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation. Perfect movie for treadmill. I felt like Tom Cruise running. And he's 10 years older than I am - So if he can be a secret agent, I can too. And the time flew by again. I didn't want the hour to end. This must be how love feels! Watched 2nd half of @guardiansofthegalaxy on @netflix on my MacBook Pro on treadmill! Ran for an hour and the time flew by! This is one my best ideas ever. The condo has downgraded the cable in the gym and we just get 10 channels on the treadmill TVs and I hate watching sports and @theellenshow is only at noon and @entertainmenttonight is in the eve and I can only watch so much @cp24breakingnews. So this week I had the idea to take my laptop down to the gym, but then I nixed that cuz remembered that I often yank the headphones out of the treadmill socket, and that would send my laptop flying. But then I remembered I have wireless @sony headphones that a production company gave me for a Christmas present about four years ago, and they've just been sitting in their box and I recently put them up for sale online but haven't decided to take on offer yet. I've started using @shapr_app, which is like @tinder but for networking with like-minded professionals. Kimberly Johnston @kimmyj02 is my first in-person meeting (I suggested my fav @secondcupcanada). Kim has overcome health issues like 2 strokes - During the 2nd one she thought she was going to die - And she's using her second chance at life to pursue her dream of celebrating niceness. Her site, nicecity.ca @nicecity_toronto, acknowledges acts of kindness that would otherwise go unnoticed. She gives out these bracelets (NiceCity.ca on front, "It's nice to be noticed" on back) to reward people for nice acts. She also gave a @dlishcupcakes cupcake to a random stranger in Trinity Bellwoods Park to celebrate NiceCity's Twitter hitting 70 followers. Oh, and her dog #blarneyobudrick is famous for sitting with his head out the window of Kim's King Street West brownstone. She's put a sign in the window with his hashtag so she can find when people post photos of him. He recently had his 10th birthday party in a park so his fans could celebrate with him. Inspiring meeting with @artiktoronto! Last week on facebook I saw a woman ask where to get custom-printed drinking glasses and coasters. Ever the entrepreneur, I decided to google for companies that do that and emailed some asking if they have a referral program. Saul, co-owner of Artik, emailed back saying he liked my social media and we should talk on the phone. I offered to drop by in person and we set up a time for this morning. We wound up chatting for 2 hours about our mutual passions for blogging, screenwriting, logo design, drawing, entrepreneurship, @timferriss's 4-hour Workweek book, self-improvement, focusing on one creative project as per the book Good To Great... We even talked about my website name, and my new goal of being a celebrity interviewer, and he convinced me to switch from my current joshrachlis.today domain back to my celebrityjosh.com I'd been working on. I sketched out logo ideas and he told me to make the lines thicker and I drew my famous 3-D letters and he laughed and said he loves drawing letters just like that. I said I'd go home and work on a logo with my new @wacom Intuos tablet and he said that in a week he could make me business cards, T-shirts, hats, pens... Oh, and he's especially good at printing buttons. He wants to make buttons featuring just my doodle of my face on it, with no words. And we agreed that nobody today has a fridge you can stick magnets on. Now I'm home and need to spend a 2 hours recording a voiceover. Then I'll work on my logo. I wasn't sure if anyone cared, but I got this sweet message from @ani.matevos, a YouTuber in Holland who writes songs about videogames. This gave me encouragement that maybe I was onto something. It showed me that people like my humour. And it also showed me that Instagram Stories can be an effective tool. When I film regular vlogs throughout my day, it takes me forever to get around to editing them and then takes a long time to edit. I still have travel vlogs going back 5 years that I want to edit. Those TIFF vlogs took me months to finish. And I've got an hour of footage from each of the 12 days I was in Costa Rica in August. So it will take me 12 hours just to watch the footage, never mind to edit it. I tried to do it on the drive to Miami but barely got Day 1 done. I guess I could just upload all the footage in chronological order. But nobody wants to watch an hour long video. But if I just do Instagram Stories as I go along and then download the whole thing and upload it to YouTube as one chunk, I could be posting a vlog every day. So I'll start by posting the specific clip of a Jenga game that Ani was referencing.
